Secure Score Improvement Plan
A prioritized template for planning and tracking Microsoft Secure Score improvement actions over time.
How to Use This Plan
Pull your current improvement actions from the Microsoft 365 Defender portal's Secure Score page, then organize them using this plan's phases. See Microsoft Secure Score Guide for the full reasoning behind this prioritization approach.
Phase 1 — High-Point, Low-Effort Actions
- List every improvement action that is both high point-value and low implementation effort.
- Target completion: within the first 2 weeks.
Phase 2 — High-Point, Higher-Effort Actions
- List remaining high-value actions requiring more planning (device compliance, DLP policies).
- Note the user-impact rating for each, and plan communication accordingly.
Phase 3 — Remaining Actions
- Address lower-priority actions opportunistically.
- Re-check the score monthly for newly added improvement actions.
